Storm brewing vs After a storm

Beauties of Yellowstone National Park part II

Beauties of a morning and this is one of them. It rained after a couple of hours and minimal hikes were done this day.
One of the short hikes at Colter Bay on another beautiful day.

Canoes all ready to go!

The hidden treasure.

This reminds me that each day can be as beautiful as we make them to be.

Beauties of Yellowstone National Park

When you see this on your hike, look around for these predators.. Wolf's paw print...

Then you see carcasses like these... look around MORE.. Leftover of a must-have-been great meal.

I was hungry before i saw these... Caterpillars.

Greatest of all reflections.

Hikes and Encounters at Yellowstone National Park Jun 23-24 2009

24-70mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8, Nikon CPL II, B+W MRC Haze and a tad of luck..

Close encounter with Mr. Grizzly at Mt Washburn at 8pm on 23rd Jun 2009.. yes.. it's 8pm and the sun has not set. Recently sunsets are at 9.10pm.

Mama Black Bear and her 2 cubs in my trail and had to cut short the hike at Beaver's Pond Trail. 9am 24th June 2009 (cropped because it's still 30m away from us). I almost walked into their path because i didn't see them on my trail. It would have been nasty if i had walked another 10 steps closer to them because Mama bear was near them though she was out of sight at the time i was nearing the cubs unintentionally.

A resting Bison is a smaller bison. When he stands, he's almost the same size as my SUV.

I seldom catch slim and long legged elks like this one..

Chipmunk spotted on yet another hike.. and yes.. first 2 days of hikes average about 15km each day. (longest trail so far is a 10km hike round trip at Howard Eton Trail. Lucky i have my camera to keep me busy. A couple of exciting and scary moments during the hike and i'll update with photos and details later.

More photos coming up when i get internet connection again.. and that won't happen in the next 5 days as i stay in a cabin at Grant Village inside the National Park itself! waking up at 4am, and it's going to 12mn now. BYE!

Japanese Drifters

It wasn't too hazy a day but the burns from the tyres were enough to smoke me out.. I spent an hour cleaning my camera kits because of the residuals from the burning of tyres.. ridiculous..

All taken with free-hand with no tripod since i rushed down from S.Z. to H.K.

More to come.. Stay tuned.
